Summary

BioCareSD, a leading specialty pharmaceutical distributor for orphan, rare and ultra-rare diseases, hired Maroon PR to lead their public relations efforts. BioCareSD’s goal is to bring more attention to their products and services in a very crowded landscape, dominated by large public companies.

 

Strategy

Maroon PR has developed an ongoing public relations strategy that incorporates traditional earned media efforts and media partnerships to bring attention to new drug therapies released by BioCare but more importantly to position its executives as thought leaders.

In addition to more traditional media relations efforts focused on press release distribution and targeted pitching, Maroon PR has executed the following key tactics:

Through the company’s relationship with the Forbes Business Council, which features first-person articles, Maroon PR develops topics and opportunities for BioCare executives to participate. Our team conducts thorough sourcing calls with BioCare executives to develop the thought leadership articles that then get published in Forbes.

Most recently, Maroon PR developed a relationship with Fierce Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical industry news site. Maroon PR writes White Papers on behalf of BioCare, and then features them on the Fierce Pharma platform as part of a paid campaign, enabling industry leaders to download the White Papers by registering their contact information, and providing BioCare with business contacts. Additionally, BioCare’s business executives are being featured on Fierce Pharma’s podcast.

Results

In 2023, Maroon PR’s media relations efforts garnered more than 2 billion impressions nationally in more than 3,200 media outlets.

To date in 2024, Maroon PR has developed a series of three White Papers, distributed through Fierce Pharma’s news platform, resulting in strong numbers of downloads and business leads. The first white paper achieved a 16.9% CTR which is well above the industry standard.

Maroon PR has also written thought leadership pieces through the Forbes Business Council for BioCareSD executives, providing a platform that allows BioCare to be recognized in the industry.

By measuring Share of Voice using our measurement tools, our public relations efforts have seen BioCareSD increase their Share of Voice vs. Competitors significantly since our engagement began.
