Maroon Cares, our sector of the business focusing on non-profit and healthcare organizations, unites our efforts to shine a light on their critical work and, ultimately, help them raise funds to grow their mission. Through strategic media relations, social media engagement, and content development, we elevate impactful stories to drive growth for our partners.

PR successes and goals for our nonprofit clients can take many forms, and our strategies and tactics are unique to each client. Here are a few recent examples of success achieved under Maroon Cares:

Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF)

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing at-risk youth for life’s challenges by teaching them critical life skills such as teamwork, communication, work ethic, and respect. The organization operates through three pillars – Youth Mentoring Programs, Youth Development Parks (YDP) and the development of STEM Center Initiatives – across the United States. Maroon PR has worked alongside the Foundation to help generate awareness of these programs and initiatives.

A significant portion of our work with CRSF focuses on publicity surrounding the nonprofit’s corporate and philanthropic partners. Because the Foundation relies heavily on large gifts and corporate partnerships rather than individual giving, we focus on larger storytelling opportunities tied to funders.

A recent example was the announcement of the Exelon Foundation’s renewed commitment to CRSF. Through a coordinated effort, Maroon PR organized and executed a media event in Chicago that resulted in 16 media placements, including coverage from outlets such as CBS affiliate WBBM-TV, ABC affiliate WLS-TV, and Block Club Chicago among others.

Maryland Food Bank

Maroon PR supports Maryland Food Bank through media relations, social management, content creation and campaign support where we strive to amplify the Food Bank’s mission across the state.

In one of MPR’s recent efforts, we positioned Maryland Food Bank President & CEO Meg Kimmel and the organization as a trusted voice on recent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility and work requirement changes, resulting in 40 media hits across 14 outlets, including multiple interviews and a placed op-ed authored by Meg. A national story was secured in Newsweek, along with coverage in local and regional outlets including Maryland Matters, The Baltimore Sun, WYPR-FM, WMAR-TV, WJZ-TV, WBAL Radio, and WMDT-TV. This coverage helped raise awareness around how these policy changes could impact Marylanders facing food insecurity, and how the Maryland Food Bank is offering food assistance resources for those impacted.

In addition to supporting the Maryland Food Bank’s broader communications efforts, Maroon PR also works closely with FoodWorks, the organization’s culinary training program. Through social media management, media outreach, video production, and photography support, our team helps showcase student stories, enrollment opportunities, program milestones, and the real impact FoodWorks has on participants and the community.

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund & Law Enforcement Museum

Each year, Maroon PR supports the NLEOMF through both its Roll Call of Heroes and exhibits at the National Law Enforcement Museum.

The Roll Call of Heroes is an annual, solemn ceremony that reads the names of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, held during the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund’s annual Candlelight Vigil.  Each year, Maroon PR helps shine a light on this ceremony and the stories of fallen officers across the country.  In 2026, 363 American law enforcement heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty were honored on the National Mall as well as during the Engraving of names, a two-week long process of adding the names of the fallen to the Law Enforcement Memorial walls. Maroon PR’s media relations efforts for these ceremonies resulted in more than 1,300 media hits across the country.

Maroon PR also coordinates coverage and outreach for the Law Enforcement museum’s numerous exhibits and programs, and manages paid efforts throughout the year to drive visitors to the museum. On May 7, 2026, Maroon PR coordinated the launch of an important new exhibit entitled “Without Warning: Ending the Terror of the DC Snipers, ” an immersive experience that describes the case that haunted the Washington, DC region nearly 25 years ago.  Maroon PR coordinated media outreach which resulted in significant national and local media coverage of the opening of the exhibit and we will continue to support and ensure the success of the exhibit during its tenure.

Fello

Maroon PR supports Fello on many fronts, from helping to position and highlight their President & CEO, other staff members and the various services they provide for people with disabilities to advising on paid media partnerships.

In 2026 alone, Maroon PR helped Fello secure 48 media stories, from WBAL-TV, WMAR-TV, and WJZ-TV, to print publications such as Baltimore Business Journal, Capital Gazette, Eye on Annapolis, Naptown Scoop, Annapolis Patch, and more, strengthening their awareness in the market as they continue to establish themselves under their new name.

Maroon PR was proud to support Ross Benincasa being chosen for the Leadership Maryland Executive Program Class of 2026, a milestone accolade and a testament to our partnership with Fello.

Exelon Foundation

Our newest nonprofit client, the Exelon Foundation, looks to Maroon PR to help drive positive media coverage and storytelling opportunities in key markets – Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. Given our extensive knowledge and proximity to three of the four markets, Maroon PR is a perfect fit to execute earned media campaigns. Our work also focuses on developing compelling video content to extend awareness beyond traditional media.

Recently, Maroon PR worked with the Exelon Foundation to support the surprise announcements of scholarship recipients, helping capture the magic of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
