Hitting a Home Run for Horton’s Kids

Horton’s Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering children in one of Washington DC’s most underserved communities, hosts their largest fundraiser of the year, Home Runs for Horton’s Kids, every summer at Nationals Park. The event brings together lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to enjoy a night out at the ballpark where they’re able to take batting practice from home plate, play catch in the outfield, and race the Nationals’ mascots.

2019 is the third year that Maroon PR has supported media relations efforts for Home Runs for Horton’s Kids with goals to secure coverage within traditional D.C. outlets and political trade outlets.

At the 11th annual Home Runs for Horton’s Kids event, Maroon PR secured coverage from all four D.C. news stations including interactive and creative live shots with ABC7 as well as two feature articles in two of the top political outlets in the country, The Hill and Roll Call. Placement in these in publications put Horton’s Kids in front of the most influential policy makers in the country while garnering over 1.7 million impressions and more than $150,000 in publicity value.
